Riding to the Sahara on a gravel bike is a genuine possibility — the desert fringe around Zagora and the Erg Chebbi dunes near Merzouga are reached on compacted piste that a gravel bike handles well. Our Sahara tours range from a single desert-edge day to a 9-day expedition finishing on the dunes. All routes and distances are verified.
Most “desert” riding here is compacted stone plateau and hard-packed sand piste — fast and rideable on 40–45c tyres. Soft sand sections are short and walkable. The sense of space is the point.
The Sahara Edge Ride and the Sahara Edge Overnight give you a real desert day (or two) without a multi-day commitment.
The High Atlas to Sahara Expedition and the Grand Gravel Tour finish on the Erg Chebbi dunes or the Zagora desert fringe after 9–10 days.
