Ounila Valley Gravel Cycling

Ounila Valley Gravel Cycling

The Ounila Valley is the ochre piste between Telouet and Ait Benhaddou — arguably the single most beautiful gravel day in Morocco. A living caravan route through Berber villages, canyon walls and two of the country’s great kasbahs. You can ride it as a day, an overnight, or the heart of a longer expedition.

The valley piste

From the ruined Glaoui kasbah at Telouet, the compacted-earth piste threads the valley to the UNESCO ksar of Ait Benhaddou — about 54 km of ochre gravel through living villages and canyon scenery.

Ride it in a day

The Ounila Valley Gravel day ride is a point-to-point classic, best with a support vehicle for transfer logistics.

Make it a journey

The Ounila overnight and the Ounila–Dades–Todra Expedition build the valley into a longer crossing with the Tizi n’Tichka and the gorges.
