Marrakech to Atlas Gravel
The gradient from Marrakech to the Atlas is one of the great gravel transitions — city edge to olive groves to foothill pistes to high plateau to pass. These are the routes that take you from Marrakech into the mountains: the Kik Plateau, Asni and Ouirgane, the Moulay Brahim saddle, and the Tizi n'Test approach. Ride a day, an overnight, or a 3–5 day tour.
The foothill transition
South of Marrakech the Haouz plain rises into the foothills on compacted-earth pistes linking olive groves and Berber villages. Tahanaout and Asni are the gateway towns.
Into the high country
The Kik Plateau and the Moulay Brahim saddle lift you above 1,300 m with real Atlas views; the Ouirgane valley and the Tizi n'Test approach take you properly into the mountains.
How far to go
A day ride reaches the foothills and plateau. An overnight reaches Ouirgane. A 3–5 day tour crosses the High Atlas properly, with a guesthouse every night.
