Kik Plateau Gravel Cycling
The Kik Plateau is a high gravel plateau above Lalla Takerkoust — big sky, bare ridges, and open views toward the Toubkal massif. It is the most scenic single gravel area within reach of Marrakech, and the heart of the Takerkoust–Ouirgane link. Ride it as a challenging day, or as the centrepiece of a 2-day overnight.
The climb onto the plateau
A sustained gravel climb from the lake shore lifts you onto the plateau — the heart of the day's climbing. Low gearing helps. The surface is compacted gravel with loose stone sections; 40c tyres are comfortable.
The plateau rim
The plateau rim gives open views north over the Haouz plain and south to Toubkal — the photographic high point of any Marrakech-area ride. Carry water: there are few villages on the plateau.
Linking through to Asni and Ouirgane
The plateau connects to Asni and on to Ouirgane — stitch them together for an epic 100 km+ day, or split the link with a night at an Asni or Ouirgane lodge.
