Marrakech is the best gravel base in Morocco — within an hour you’re on empty pistes above Amizmiz, Ouirgane and the Ourika valley, or out on the Agafay stone desert. South and west of the city the Haouz plain rises into the Atlas foothills on a network of compacted-earth pistes linking olive groves, Berber villages and lake shores. The Agafay offers a true stone desert 30 minutes away; the Kik Plateau and the Asni–Ouirgane corridor put you under the Toubkal massif.
