Gravel Cycling Near Marrakech
The closest gravel to Marrakech is some of the best. Within 30–60 minutes of the city centre you are on the Agafay stone desert, the lakeside pistes of Lalla Takerkoust, the foothills above Tahanaout, and the lower Atlas slopes toward Asni. These are the routes we ride when time is short — all verified, all reachable as a day trip, several as an overnight.
The closest stone desert
The Agafay is a compact stone desert 30 minutes south-west of Marrakech — arid, golden and almost traffic-free. The Agafay Desert Loop and the half-day Sunset Ride are the closest real gravel to the city.
The closest foothill climbing
Tahanaout and the pistes toward Lalla Takerkoust put you into the Atlas foothills within an hour — rolling gravel with mountain views and very little traffic.
Going a little further
A further 30 minutes brings the Kik Plateau, Asni, Ouirgane and Ourika — proper Atlas gravel with real climbing. The gradient of "near Marrakech" is generous.
