Frequently asked questions

What is the best time to ride from Marrakech?

October to May. The foothills are green and mild, and a rest day in the medina is a bonus. Summer is hot — ride at dawn only; winter is mild in the foothills though snow sits high up.

How far are the gravel pistes from Marrakech?

Within an hour. The Amizmiz, Ouirgane, Takerkoust and Tahanaout pistes are 30–50 km from the city centre — perfect for a day ride with an evening back in town.

Is Marrakech good for beginners?

Yes — it is the ideal classroom. The foothill pistes are rolling, scenic, traffic-free and forgiving, with modest climbing. Start with a day ride, then step up to the 5-Day Atlas Gravel Tour.

Do I need to bring my own bike?

No. We rent well-equipped gravel bikes in Marrakech, set up for the local pistes. If you prefer your own, we help with assembly and box storage — see our rental and bringing-your-own-bike guides.

What accommodation is available?

Marrakech riads and hotels for city nights, plus foothill guesthouses in Amizmiz, Ouirgane and Asni for overnights. Every tier from Budget to Premium is available.

Can I do a day ride and be back in Marrakech the same day?

Yes. Most Marrakech day rides start mid-morning and finish by late afternoon — you are back in the city for the evening. See our day trips from Marrakech guide.

Is it safe to cycle around Marrakech?

Yes. The pistes are traffic-free and the foothills are welcoming. We guide every ride, and the city is a comfortable, well-connected base with good medical and logistical support.

Can I customise a trip from Marrakech?

Yes. Marrakech is the launch point for almost every trip — day rides, overnights, expeditions and custom itineraries combining the Atlas, coast and desert. Tell us what you want and we design it.
