Frequently asked questions
When is the best time to ride the Anti-Atlas?
October to April. Winter and spring give warm days, cool nights and low rainfall. Summer is too hot for daytime riding — the Anti-Atlas is our winter escape when the High Atlas is snowed in.
How difficult is the Anti-Atlas riding?
Moderate. Rolling to jagged terrain with 400–900 m of daily climbing. The gradients are gentler than the High Atlas but the scenery is wilder and the routes remoter.
What is the terrain like?
Rocky compacted gravel piste through argan and almond country, with some loose, stony sections. A 40–45c tubeless setup is ideal. Technical singletrack is rare on our routes.
How do I get to the Anti-Atlas?
Tafraoute is about 300 km / 4.5 hours from Marrakech; Taroudant is closer. We arrange transfers as part of a multi-day trip, often combining the Anti-Atlas with the Draa or the coast.
What accommodation is available?
Small-town guesthouses in Tafraoute, Taroudant and Taliouine — simple, clean and authentic. There are fewer lodges than in the Atlas, so we plan overnights around the towns.
Is the Anti-Atlas safe for cycling?
Yes. It is remote and quiet with very little traffic. The main consideration is water and heat — we carry ample water and ride in the cool hours. A support vehicle is recommended.
Can I combine the Anti-Atlas with other regions?
Yes — it pairs well with the Draa Valley and Sahara to the east, and the Atlantic coast to the west. The Atlas to Sahara Grand Tour and custom trips both include Anti-Atlas sections.
Can I bring my own bike?
Yes. We help with assembly and box storage in Marrakech, or you can rent a gravel bike from us set up for the local pistes.
